I am a senior research fellow and Royal Academy of Engineering research fellow within the Microstructured Optical Fibre group at the Optoelectronic Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton. Prior to joining the ORC in 2010 to start a PhD, I obtained a BSc in Microelectronics from Nankai University, China, and MSc degrees in Photonics from the Universities of Ghent (Belgium) and St Andrews.

My research focuses on studying light propagation in hollow-core optical fibres and investigating ways of harnessing their unique properties to serve applications ranging from data transmission to precise optical sensors
